Originally issued in numbers: v. 1, Jan. 1747-May 1749; v. 2, April 1750-Aug. (?) 1752; left unfinished at the author's death in October 1752
To v. 2 of this copy is prefixed the t.p. of "no. 4...Vol. II" with imprint, "Boston, Printed and sold by Daniel Fowle...1750." There are many references in v. 2 to the year 1752 (cf.p. 394, 395, 399, 412, etc.)
This copy, along with all other recorded copies of the Summary, lacks the three maps called for in v. 2, p. 20-21
Sections concerning North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, noted on p.ii, v. 1, are not found in this work. The second volume ends at p. 416 (end of section XVI, Virginia.)
