Notes David Gestetner (1854 -1939) was the inventor of the Gestetner stencil duplicator which was a copy machine or mimeograph. It was first piece of office machinery that made it possible for numerous reproductions of documents to be made quickly and inexpensively. The business was based in London, England, with branches and depots across Canada and a Canadian head office at 117a King Street West in Toronto. The business was established in 1881. The warranty document includes a wax seal stamp.
