NotesMetrolinx’s Eglinton Crosstown (Line 5), Toronto’s new light rail transit line, will have 25 stops between Kennedy in the east and Mount Dennis in the west.
Eglinton Crosstown LRT's Science Centre Station (renamed Don Valley Station in March 2025, after the Ontario Science Centre was abruptly permanently closed in June of 2024 due to an engineering report that found that the roof was at risk of collapsing) will be an underground station and Mobility Hub, located at the intersection of Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East.
Photograph purchased from photographer Arman Bahreini in 2025.
Crosstown exhibition held November 22, 2024-February 1, 2025 at Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography (Toronto, Ontario).
Description from Gallery 44 website: "As the completion of the new Eglinton Crosstown LRT draws closer, taking in any stretch along the new 19km line is a surreal sight to anyone familiar with Eglinton Ave. As roads are repaved and fences come down, we see a street split between its past and future.
Inspired by photos from the City of Toronto Archives, artist Arman Bahreini presents a mosaic of Eglinton Ave, depicting it in its current state of change. Just as Bloor St or St Clair Ave have been redefined by transit infrastructure, so will the character of Eglinton Ave, so much so that there will likely come a time when few will remember Eglinton Ave without it.
Shot over several months, Bahreini traversed many neighbourhoods along Eglinton Ave between Kennedy Rd and Weston Rd. This is Eglinton in 2024."
