Original Toronto Star caption: Carpenters end seven-week strike. Voting on a wage offer at noon today ended a seven- week walkout by 3;000 Toronto carpenters. The vote followed a two-and-a-half-hour meeting behind closed doors at the Club Kingsway. It marked acceptance of a new offer of 92 cents an hour increase plus another eight cents in fringe benefits. End of the strike came too late to ensure completion of many Metro school projects in time for opening next month. Other local building trades unions have yet to reach settlement.
