Original Toronto Star caption: This should be a bad memory after today; but the transit strike - scheduled to end by 6 a.m. tomorrow - only proves that downtown traffic conditions can be worse than we could imagine. This scene; looking south from Queen's Park along University Ave. during afternoon rush-hour yesterday; must have partly inspired the Legislature to push through back-to-work orders for 7;200 striking TTC workers. Union officials said union had no intention of defying law.
