Original Toronto Star caption: Monumental jam-ups - in case any downtown driver missed one - were the order of the day as an unprepared Metro faced the first day of the transit strike. University Ave. (above) during the afternoon evening rush-hour was a classic. Street is lined with motorists - out of their cars - trying to see where hold-up begins; or ends. A few cyclists and pedestrians are only ones mobile. Laneways and other open spaces were filled with overheated and fuel-less cars.
