Original Toronto Star caption: The career effort of veteran Toronto middle distance runner Abby Hoffman was perhaps definitive performance of our Olympic team. Three times in four days; Dear Abby broke her Canadian record for 800 metres. Prior to competing at Munich; she had never been faster than 2:02.8. She lowered that steadily through heat; semi-final and final to 2:00.2--but she finished last in the field of eight in the run for the medals. Hildegarde Falcke won in 1:58.5.
