Original Toronto Star caption: Log barrier protects Hydro plant. Built low in the gorge of Niagara to take advantage of the greatest possible head of water for turning its generators; the mighty Queenston Hydro station is to-day being protected by a log barrier from rising waters and crushing ice. One of the most important units in the Niagara power system; the Queenton plant develops well over half a million horsepower.
