Original Toronto Star caption: Mountain of refuse at Metro's Beare Rd. Landsite is packed down by a bulldozer. Metro has to dispose of almost a ton of garbage per president per year, most of it at three landfill sites. But they're expected to be filled up by 1981 - and the cost of other; less wasteful methods of disposal can be much higher per ton. Beare Road Landfill, bounded by Finch Avenue East to the north, Scarborough-Pickering Town line to the east, hydro corridor to the south, and CN rail line to the west.
