Original Toronto Star caption: Hold up bloor st. widening. When workmen of the contractor engaged in street widening work on Bloor St. appeared to erect scaffolding in front of the National Piano Co. premises; at 15 Bloor St. W.; they were forbidden by an official of the company to proceed with their work. The company refuses admittance to their store entrance until such time as a settlement as to compensation has been reached.

It has to be widened, says Metro traffic commissioner Sam Cass of the Don Valley Parkway as he stands on footbridge crossing it at Riverdale Zoo. Planners estimate it will cost $15 million to widen parkway an extra two lanes, and it's not the right solution adds Cass. In addition, two other street widening programs will cost another $9 million. Cass blames halting of the Spadina Expressway.
