Original Toronto Star caption: It's the St. Clair connection. The camera's telephoto lens makes it appear St. Clair Ave. streetcars are disappearing into the bowels of the earth; but actually it is a connecting underpass with the Spadina subway just east of Bathurst St. Regular traffic will use roadways on either side. It copies a similar subway connection in Brussels. The TTC is worried that weather and labor problems could push back scheduled opening of already-delayed $220 million subway to May.
