Original Toronto Star caption: Yonge St. businessmen called an outdoor news conference yesterday at this downtown parking lot to announce details of another mall from Gerrard to Dundas. It'll run from Aug. 13 to 20. Restaurateur Arthur Carman; standing at centre; the president of the merchants' group; answers questions about the mall; for which merchants have already pledged more than $10;000. The Legislature passed legislation Wednesday that would allow mall. City Council still must okay it.

Spot where Student was Slain in Fairview Mall parking lot is roped off. Police question bystanders of possible clues, but apparently have no motive for the slaying of Michael Habbib, 15, who was shot twice in the face as he walked across the lot last night. A suspect was wounded seriously in a shoot-out with police a little later in the parking lot of Scarborough Town Centre mall, about 5 miles east.
