Original Toronto Star caption: A lucky few saw the elephants. it doesn't open until Aug. 15; so thousands of disappointed people were turned away from gates of new Metro Zoo during the weekend. They saw pictures of crowds in newspapers; many said; but didn't realize they were of special previews for Metro schoolchildren. More than 1;500 were turned away yesterday; but zoo officials were still expecting 1;000 or so today. A few lucky ones; who somehow slipped in; caught the elephants' on an outing.
