Original Toronto Star caption: The Maya city of Tikal in northern Guatemala; one of the great wonders of the world; has been partially cleared of jungle and opened to tourists. Nobody knows how big it was but so far six square miles have been mapped and 3;000 structures located. At right centre is 145-foot Temple I with its steep stairs in profile. In front of it is Great Plaza and beyond it North Acropolis.
