To take the salute from a parade of 75 pipe bands, marking the start of the World Scottish Festival at the Canadian National Exhibition, Mayor William Dennison dons a borrowed kilt with help from Maureen Bower of his staff. The crowd at Queen and Yonge Sts. was estimated at 5,000, Nathan Phillips Square was full.
