Original Toronto Star caption: Big Daddy buried: The coffin of Metro's first chairman; Fred Gardiner; is carried to his grave at Mount Pleasant Cemetery after the funeral service yesterday. Premier William Davis and Metro Chairman Paul Godfrey were among those who attended the funeral; to which only close friends and family were invited. Gardiner died at Wellesley Hospital on Sunday after a stroke.
