Original Toronto Star caption: Shattered windows of cruiser are examined by police officers after the fatal shooting of Constable Leslie Maitland today at Drayton and Woodrow Aves. near Coxwell and Danforth. One witness said Maitlnad had been shot twice in the back. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Toronto East General Hospital. A second officer in the car radioed for help the shooting which followed a bank robbery.
