Original Toronto Star caption: Police deputy wears a new hat. Deputy Police Chief William McCormack dons a makeshift turban yesterday to attend Baisakhi Day celebrations at the Sikh community's Sri Guru Singh Sabha Temple on Old Weston Rd. The festivities marked the anniversary of the conversion in 1699 of their religion into a martial faith. McCormack invited more Sikhs to join the force and reminded them they would be allowed to wear turbans.
