Original Toronto Star caption: Nazis forbid performance of german concerto. When Yehudi Menuhin, 20-year-old former boy prodigy violinist, who is Jewish, was booked to play the solo part of the German composer Schumann's famour Lost Concerto in St. Louis on Nov.12, the Nazi government announced that the world premiere of the work must take place in Germany on Nov. 13. Menuhin is reported feeling outraged, but it is believed he will submit to the decree. He is seen with his pianist sister, Hephzibah

Thousands of prisoners who died at the Bergen Belsen concentration camp during World War II weren't deliberately starved to death but died from a rash of diseases, according to a psychiatrist who was there in 1945. Russell William Barton, 61, of Rochester, N.Y., said that when he entered the camp on May 2, 1945, he had heard and believed that prisoners were deliberately starved to death by the Nazis.
