Having conquered Lake Ontario last summer in record time, 17-year-old Cindy Nicholas of Scarborough is getting ready to tackle the English Channel on July 27. She has been swimming 6 miles in an indoor pool every day this winter and now, ready for the rigors of outdoor lake swimming, she's training in the 68-degree water of Musselman Lake, outside Stouffville. Soon she'll be in Lake Ontario for workouts, The water in Musselman is too calm. She'll go to England in July.
