Original Toronto Star caption: Riding to open the Ontario Legislature, Lieutenant-Governor Earl Rowe, flanked by horse guards, was like a new bride with something old, something borrowed and something blue. Old was the tattered sweater he wore beneath his splendid uniform to keep warm. Borrowed was the landau he rode in - from CNE manager Bert Powell. And blue were his ears. The white feathers on his cocked hat, he says, aren't very warm.
