A question of balance. Technician Mary Yap takes to the tilting chair of balance expert Dr. Walter Johnson yesterday at St. Michael's Hospital. The otolith chair helps Johnson detect inner ear and balance problems. it was paid for by the Atkinson Foundation, which gave a $30,000 grant to St. Mikes to fund such research.

Eye operation: Eye surgeon Dr. Lionel Chisholm of Toronto Western Hospital says a research clinic here would provide a centre where he and other doctors could share information on eye treatment techniques with researchers. Because there is no eye research institute in Canada, those with disease or injures often travel to the U.S., the site of the nearest eye centres.
