Original Toronto Star caption: Pioneer Village Spins back to life; Visitors from the West Scarborough Boys and Girls Club watch as Debi Simpson demonstrates the carding and spinning of wool at Black Creek Pioneer Village. The village at Steeles Ave. and Jane St. opened for the season on Monday and its operators; the Metro Toronto and Region Conservation Authority; hopes it will attract 5 to 7 percent more visitors than the 300;000 who came last year. Costumed villagers and farm animals are used to re-enact pioneer life of a crossroads community of a century ago.
