It took about 50 firefighters more than three hours to control a fire at an abandoned tire factory on Bloor St. W.; west of Lansdowne Ave.; early today. The fire at the Seiberling Rubber Company of Canada Ltd. building; being demolished by Greenspoon Brothers Ltd.; started about 12.30 a.m. At the height of the blaze; flames shot hundreds of feet into the air. The fire was so intense heat could be felt about 60 metres away. Morning rush-hour traffic was snarled.
