Original Toronto Star caption: Head-on crash of two CNR freight trains killed at least two men early today at Pefferlaw; 30 miles northeast of Newmarket. Three men were injured; one with an amputated leg; and two others are missing and feared dead. CN officials believe the southbound freight was attempting to get onto a siding to let the northbound go through when the crash occurred just past the village station. A total of seven men; all of them engine and train crew; were on the two trains.
