Original Toronto Star caption: Dominion Day celebrations took place yesterday at Nathan Phillips Square as members of the guard at Fort York fired a cannon to celebrate Canada's 106th birthday. Crowds at the civic square also saw a massed band concert in addition to wind-up festivities of the Metro International Caravan. Many others enjoyed the holiday by taking ferry to Toronto Island; visiting Ontario Place; Yonge St. mall and Woodbine Racetrack. Thousands of people attended the Queen's Park picnic.
