Original Toronto Star caption: After performing military manoeuvres of the early 19th century; the Fort York Guard fired their muskets at the enemy yesterday in Nathan Phillips Square and won the day. It was all part of the Simcoe Day celebration; which included historical displays; band music and the symbolic return of John Graves Simcoe; the founder of Toronto; portrayed by Col. Michael Stevenson; commander of the Queen's York Rangers. About 8;000 people attended the celebration.
