Original Toronto Star caption: Nuclear giant is taking shape. Ontario Hydro, straining to meet an ever-rising demand for power in the province, is well advanced with construction at its nuclear station at Pickering east of Toronto. First of four 500,000-kilowatt units is expected to be in service in 1971. The station will cost over $500 million to build. Ontario's need for power is growing at close to 10 per cent annually, requiring heavy annual capital expenditures.
