Original Toronto Star caption: Longest season in 15 years ends. Longest season in 15 years for ice-fishing on Lake Simcoe ends officially in 6 days. Provincial law states that fishing huts must be off all lakes by March 31 or owners face a $50 fine. More than 5;000 huts were on Lake Simcoe this winter; the first huts were on by Dec. 7. Friends helped Steve Kucharchuk; operator of Pefferlaw Fish Huts; to start removing his yesterday. He had about 25 huts on the ice.
