Original Toronto Star caption: Once again; sap's a-running; Old and new methods of making maple syrup are demonstrated in the sugar bush of Bruce's Mill Conservation Area; on the road between Gormley and Stouffville. Jack Lamers stokes the fire in a modern evaporator while Al Boxx draws the finished syrup into a milk can. The old way is a big pot over an open fire?but both boil down 40 gallons of sap to 1 gallon of syrup. The area's open for school break.
