Original Toronto Star caption: Landscaping begins at new Scarborough centre. The first of 1,400 plants are set out around the new Scarborough Civic Centre, an $11 million building the Queen will open officially on June 29. The unofficial opening will be later this month, when 900 borough employees move into their new offices. The centre looks out on a 2.3-acre town square connected to a shopping centre containing 132 stores, which formally opened last week. Two 35-foot rubber trees will be planted inside the civic building, near reflecting pool. Scarborough Civic Centre located on Borough Drive, north side, between Brimley Road and McCowan Road.
