Original Toronto Star caption: Scarborough's new civic centre is open for business. Five hundred Scarborough municipal employees are at work today in the borough's new $13 million civic centre, which will be officially opened by the Queen June 29. Employees moved in yesterday and started finding their way around the huge white building, where desks face balconies overlooking a central hall. I feel as if I'm on display, not working, draftsman John Lennox commented. I like it better than a cubbyhole. You can see people and everything going on, was the verdict of Ron Hibbard in the property department, who's worked for the borough for 22 years. Elevators are not yet in top working order and one level of indoor parking is not completed, but I've no complaints, one man said.
