Original Toronto Star caption: Big day 20 years ago: Fred Big Daddy Gardiner; Metro Chairman at the time; swings at ball thrown to open 1955 International League baseball season at Maple Leaf Stadium. Toronto then was healthiest property in all of minor league baseball. Best year was 1952 when Leafs drew 448;000 to park which had 19;000 capacity. Professional baseball in Toronto died in 1967 with sale of team to Louisville. Yesterday; San Francisco Giants moved to Toronto.
