Original Toronto Star caption: His voice quivering with emotion; Neil Russell; 44; said yesterday that he never dreamed that his nephew Gary White; 18; was capable of murder. I never in my wildest imagination thought that Gary could do anything like that; said Russell; of scarlettwood Court in Etobicoke. If I could have done anything to prevent it; I would have; he told Provincial Court Judge Ayres Couto. White was killed by police last September after stealing his uncle's rifle and then confronting police with the semi-automatic weapon. He fired an estimated 40 shots; killing Dunmore and wounding two other policemen before police killed him. [Incomplete]
