Original Toronto Star caption: Warming up for a race. A couple of teams, including that of Bill Mills (inset) of the Pier Four team, were all steamed and iced up yesterday as thy finished a trial run in preparation for an ice canoe race across the Toronto Harbor next Sunday. It may not be as cold as today, 19-7C (nearly -4F), when the race itself is run - the weatherman says a warming trend is one the way - but the course will be tougher because tugs will break up the ice in strategic spots to make sure the racers get their feet wet. The race will be part of the Molson Winterfest '84 at Harborfront, which will also include an ice sculpture contest next Saturday and Sunday outside York Quay Centre, and a polar bear fun run, fiddling championship and pipesmoking championship on Feb. 4.
