Brock St. in downtown Uxbridge will have a completely different look in 1978 if president Harold Black and the other 35 members of the Development Association have their way. They want $32,000 grant from the federal Local Initiatives Program to pay for much of the week and to complete a master plan. In the meantime, they expect to start the rejuvenation in the next few months with such projects as setting out trees in concrete pots and taking down ugly signs.

Doreen MacDonald picked up a toaster from a pile of battered appliances in the Qeen St. E. Soup-to-nuts junk store run by Jack Himself Cohen. One dollar. Himself said. Does it work? Doreen asked. I don't know. Why don't you plug it in and find out? All I do is sell as is. You won't plug it in? No. Doreen paid the $1 and once again proved Himself's credo: I don't polish anything. I learned my lesson when I polished the $25 special finish off a candelabra early in business. Since then I sell everything just as it is. [Incomplete]

Lynn Dudley, holding control valve which is the heart of swimming pool solar heating system manufactured by Raypak Thermonics (Canada) Ltd., says solar heating may be closer than we think. Dudley, president of Rexdale-based Raypak, says solar assisted home heating systems already may be within the grasp of the average houseowner who wants to save on the fuel bills.
