Original Toronto Star caption: Water shortage: A frustrated firefighter stands helpless beside a dry hose; unable to fight the inferno behind him that destroyed 105 homes in a Markham subdivision. Someone had partly shut off four to six major water valves at the fire site; leaving them without enough water to fight the $10.5 million blaze. Even when they were opened; there was not enough water pressure.
