Original Toronto Star caption: Ducks that winter on Grenadier Pond in High Park get a handout from Annie Magansa; 15; and Alan Potter; 18; to disapproval of waterfowl biologist Robert Alison. He says ducks and geese fed by well-meaning persons lose the instinct to feed themselves and become dependent on man. If they're healthy they can fend for themselves; he says. If not; they should be allowed to die to make sure the species remains strong-and survives.
